about
Emily Harper is a gouache and papermedia artist who lives and works in Taos, New Mexico. She holds a B.S. in Geology from the University at Buffalo and a Professional Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of New Mexico, where she is currently studying Fine Arts. Additionally, she runs a seasonal floral design business which informs many of her botanical paper sculptures.
Her artistic style combines high energy colors with abstract geometric patterns influenced by the earth sciences and existentialism. She has completed multiple residencies, a solo exhibition, and has participated in multiple juried exhibits.
She has worked as a geologist in collections or educational programming at several museum and outdoor education institutes. Museum programming is where she observed a real need for the general public to find strong creative or spiritual connections to the natural world in order to value it.
